This morning I had the privilege of being interviewed by Goody Noisi, from Business Fraser Valley, along with small business icon, Michael E. Gerber. Following is an excerpt of the conversation in response to the question, so why The Dreaming Room? What is it? Why should anybody think this to be important? Michael Gerber responded,
"The Dreaming Room is the answer to the “jobs” issue everyone is talking about, from the US President/Canadian Prime Minister, to the Congress, Provincial leaders, to the academics, to everyone on the street who needs one. My answer is, it’s not about Jobs, stupid, it’s about entrepreneurship. And nobody has figured out how to create entrepreneurs, because everybody believes entrepreneurs are born, not made. Well, I know that entrepreneurs are not those few gifted geniuses like Steve Jobs, or Bill Gates, or Anita Roddick, they are in every single one of us. The problem is, because nobody thinks like that, few of us ever are taught how to awaken that entrepreneur that lives within each and every one of us. But, I’ve been doing that for years with small business owners throughout the world. I’ve been awakening the entrepreneur within small business owners, but for the wrong reason. To fix their broken business. And of course we’ve fixed tens of thousands of broken businesses, but we’ve only rarely awakened the true entrepreneur within those small businesses, because our objective was other than that. Our objective was to fix their broken business…which we did, continuously…and once we did, the client and we thought the job was done. Well, it wasn’t. The job had only begun. Which was to grow that small business into a large company. When I realized that I created The Dreaming Room to awaken the entrepreneur within, rather than to fix a broken business".
"People will quickly understand why what we are doing is newsworthy. This is a historic thing we’re doing with our regional Facilitators and Tana is bringing this to the Fraser Valley, British Columbia and Canada. Let me repeat it…if you don’t get it now, the opportunity will pass you by. You won’t be given the opportunity to just sit by and wait for something to happen for long. The long and the short of it is, people have an opportunity to bring this into their own communities as a Dreaming Room Facilitator. In so doing they will create news, create growth, stimulate jobs and economic activity by creating something more important than any other subject you can name…we’re creating new entrepreneurs, to transform the world".
The Dreaming Room is the new engine installed in the Discovery Center for Entrepreneurship and a new economic driver in the Fraser Valley. We are expanding throughout British Columbia and across Canada through entrepreneurial partnerships with licensees and franchisees. Economic development by the people, for the people.
